Humm... reading the news saved me from entering into an expensive and hard-to-reverse lease in a teeny-tiny Paris apartment just weeks before the lockdowns. I'd have gone nuts there. More topical still, reading the (right kind of) news got people to evacuate their folks from Ukraine just in time before it became really dangerous. Sure, those may be once-in-a-lifetime events, but still. I'll happily accept that I'm reading too much (way too much) news though.
