I live in Sweden. We have OK-ish animal welfare laws. Even here free-range means very very little. I use to think of it in numbers of a4 sheets of paper per hen. In a battery cage they have almost one. In fee range systems they have almost 3. Not nearly enough for them to avoid stress behaviour and them killing eachother.
