With solar you need to store for use when there's no sun. Relatively doable for overnight with batteries. Outside of niche solutions like pumped hydro it's practically impossible for longer periods such as during the winter or just a string of overcast days. Green hydrogen has some promise, we'll see over then next decade or so.
