If Twitter can block Donald Trump, why not user posting against Hindu God: Delhi
- PaulHoule 5y agoI see it as ironic. Trump got banned from Twitter for inciting violence. India leads the world in violence to support traditional values (having a big population is part of the reason) and there is a lot of concern internationally that Hindu nationalists will be violent towards minorities. I think we should all be respectful of other people's religious beliefs but it is one thing to say something blasphemous and another thing to encourage violence on or off social media.
- quantified 5y agoFor fun, canonical religious texts call for, and celebrate, violence as well. This sits at the intersection of different concerns. How should those be handled?
- Imnimo 5y ago>remarked that had such an incident happened in relation to another religion, the social media platform would have been more careful and sensitive. I must have missed Twitter constantly blocking anyone who says negative things about Christianity. What alternate universe are these people living in?
- windex 5y agoI am not sure if anyone has had a look at Indian twitter of late, it's awash with hate speech. Women, students, rights activists, journos, all of them have been plastered with hate by right wing "hindutwa" extremists. Funnily, its the aggressors who claim to be victims. Very strange.
