I'm surprised I hadn't heard about this before, although looking into it, it seems pretty infamous, and reminds me of many Scientologist documentaries. I got some second-hand PTSD from the comic that I wasn't looking for today, but I found the comic really well done. This was 100% a cult, and I'm sad to see that it had operated for that long. I wonder what happened to many of its residents; that is a crazy amount of trauma they had to deal with as kids that would definitely have long-lasting consequences -- I wouldn't last half a day there as an adult.
