We can’t rely on boosters to get through each new wave of Covid
- jleyank 5y agoI have to really read the article, but the world “handles” flu by guesstimating flu vaccines each year and dosing to hopefully reduce the naive population. No, dosing the same booster isn’t a long term strategy vs covid, but they are capable of making variants way faster than certifying them (as with flu vaccines) so at some point things will switch re certification. Covid, to date, is far simpler than flu re changes so they have better odds making guesses. Yeah, non-vaccine solutions would be great to have as well as universal vaccines but that’s a very difficult problem. Not a lot of successes in curing viral diseases vs. suppressing symptoms.
