Why do you reply in the first place? Why don't you block unknown messages? Where are your servers right now? Who knows who am I and from where I'm replying to you? Do you feel tainted that I'm not using Safari to reply to you?
- rad_gruchalski 5y agoThere is a difference between public forum and private communication. This is a public forum and I am replying to you because I want to have a public discussion with you. I understand that when I reply, my message will be stored in the US. I consent to this by creating an account on this website, signing in to my profile, and taking part in this discussion. Both of us consent to this. We also understand that this is a public forum and messages posted here can be scraped and stored in other places for eternity, depending on jurisdiction. It’s not the same with iMessage, for that matter. When I use iMessage, I make conscious decision to send my message over iMessage and have it traverse and be stored on iMessage infrastructure. If that message is to leave this infrastructure, I assume there will be some dort of consent action required from my side. Am I wrong? If my contact wants to continue talking over another medium, say Signal, I choose to install Signal or not. What’s wrong with that? Otherwise, if there’s no consent, why are my private iMessage messages suddenly shared with Signal? After all it was my explicit decision to cancel my Facebook account, and Whatsapp account. So what’s the assumption here. That I am now going to be coerced to have my messages shared potentially with Facebook because my contact doesn’t want iMessage and prefers communication over whatsapp or Facebook messenger?
