Mail Tester
- shmoogy 5y agoLove this site. Been using it for years whenever we need to diagnose deliverability.
- npilk 5y agoFound this the other week when someone alerted me that emails from my custom domain were showing as possible spam in Gmail - it worked perfectly to help me fix the problem (duplicate SPF records). It's frustrating that all my mail could have been triggering spam alerts for months without me knowing. I'm lucky someone kind reached out to tell me. It would be great to have a service automatically alert you if your messages look "spammy" (although I know real spammers would probably abuse it).
- collin128 5y agoMail tester is awesome and a huge asset. If you're willing to spend a little for some automation the Glock Apps is pretty good too.
- lwhalen 5y agoI just wish they supported IPv6.
- ghgr 5y agoThat's a great site and I used it in the past with great success. Just be wary that even having a 10/10 it doesn't mean that your email won't land in the spam folder. It's been happening to me with Microsoft (Hotmail/Outlook) for as long as I maintained my own mail server. After trying everything (even contacting them just to get a nofix automated answer) I decided to go with Migadu.
- johnklos 5y agoHow do we know these folks don't sell these email addresses? Or, if not sell, how do we know they're not storing logs in some public cloud that has shit for security and protects spammers and scammers? dig srv1.mail-tester.com mx ;; ANSWER SECTION: srv1.mail-tester.com. 562 IN MX 1 reception.mail-tester.com. host reception.mail-tester.com reception.mail-tester.com has address 94.23.206.89 whois 94.23.206.89 inetnum: 94.23.192.0 - 94.23.255.255 netname: OVH descr: OVH SAS descr: Dedicated Servers descr: http://www.ovh.com OVH is incredibly pro-spammer.
- brw 5y agoWell, they state they don't sell any email addresses[1], and delete any data after a certain amount of days, only using it for averages and anonymous stats. Looking at the other comments here and in the past[2] the site has been very helpful to quite a few people over quite a few years. I'd also say it's a bit weird to reduce OVH, which is arguably the largest European cloud provider, to just protecting spammers and scammers or being pro-spammer. But that's just my opinion based on my experiences, you may consider it to be different. The company behind it is called WOOBEO, based in France, as listed in their TOS[3]. You can probably look up more information about them. Or you could contact them and ask them directly even[4]. All in all, if you think you have a good reason not to trust this site, or any site like it, it seems simple enough to just decide to not use it, like with any online service. I suppose this is just like any other risk/reward situation, and the reward seems to outweigh the risk for most people. - faeranne 5y agoVery helpful in diagnosing issues, though it seems to have a false positive issue with RATS, as it keeps reporting that my ip is in RATS-ALL, but checking with the website, my IP is green checks all the way down. I'm assuming the -ALL is just checking all 4 blacklists, but for whatever reason, mail-tester is getting a flag that RATS isn't showing me.
