In your opinion, where's the line between "petitioning the government for a redress of grievances", and "attempt to overthrow the government"?
- quantified 5y agoIf the congresscritters had any balls and stayed in chambers to confront the crowd, we’d be a lot more clear as to whether this was “petitioning by motley fools” or “violent insurrection”. As it is, they made it easy to claim it was nothing more than hijinks in the chambers.
- spacemanmatt 5y agoSeems like "balls" would be a counter-evolutionary trait. Avoiding mobs is like, survival 101.
- quantified 5y agoThat’s why no one remembers Tiananmen Square tank guy, right?
- mcphage 5y agoYeah, maybe it was a fun mob!
- quantified 5y agoDon’t congresspeople run on their military experience when they have it? Marines are supposed to run _to_ the action, not from it.
- mcphage 5y agoGenerally we give them guns first—not just “hey run at the enemy good luck.”
- quantified 5y agoIMHO we saw who wanted their chosen outcome more strongly that day. The optics of actually zip-tying a sitting congresswoman would have blown this whole thing way past the current deniers’ ability to rationalize.

- spacemanmatt 5y agoIn your opinion, where's the line between peaceful petition and violent invasion? Clearly the Jan 6 riot was not a peaceful petition, but was clearly a violent invasion.
