Never understood, once SMB gets going it's pretty fast, but it takes agessss to list a directory. Like why can't it just pipe the output of dir() or ls (when samba) out over the network.
- hansel_der 5y agocomparing a ford-fiesta with a hypersonic rocket-car; totally different applications. parallelism, integrity/reliability and efficiency get somewhat more important once you regularly have to shuffle petabytes around the globe.
