The quality of the onboarding is directly influenced by the quality of your processes.
New people might struggle during onboarding because they find the processes unpractical. You can try to force them to learn your workflow, or you can listen and use it as an opportunity to improve the way you do things.
- codr7 5y agoI've tried to intentionally use my fresh perspective in constructive ways when in that position, but improving the process is unfortunately rarely a corporate goal so it's mostly rowing upstream so far. The way a company reacts to thoughtful observations about their process says a lot about how they view their employees.
