Barbados and the End of Monarchy
- jleyank 5y agoThere are various mechanisms for head of state that is disconnected from head of government of which the Commonwealth’s remote sovereign is one. There are advantages to a non political head of state, but if one wants to have a monarchy then the ruler and their family should be “local and native”. Anything else implies less than full independence… Tradition is all well and good but bending a knee to somebody that is ultimately a foreigner should have been left in the 20th century.
