Something you much see too often is that a designer tries to copy some design, without understanding why that it had been designed that way in the first place.
That is how you got bad flat design.
That is how the idea of metaphors got skewed into skeuomorphism — and likewise, how metaphors got swept away by the movement against skeuomorphism.
- pmontra 5y agoMaybe most designers are not even designers but only developers, frontend or backend, and the best they (we!) can do is copy something we already used which could come from other non designers. All the reasoning is lost in the process.
