Satellite data shows entire Conger ice shelf has collapsed in Antarctica
- revertmean 5y agoNote that this is usually called the East Shackleton Ice Shelf so you'll find more technical details if you look for that. There's some discussion on Neven's Sea Ice Forums.
- kwere 5y agoIs this a product of positive feedback loops? I always thought we will never win climate change die to human nature incentives, I believe besides to adeguate is to mix water with compounds to store it someway or crazy idea, build hundreds of space elevators and move water out of planet earth, in orbit, on the moon or mars? Having a high enough throughput one could even lower water levels? Actually there are estimated 159k km3 of ice, if one has a space elevator that put 2 m3 of ice per minute * 100 space elevators one can put 0.105 km3 out of earth at year. To reduce/increase water level of 1 mm we need to store 360 km3 somewhere
- DiggyJohnson 5y agoHey. Maybe I’m nuts but that’s first long paragraph (“I always…water levels.”) is unreadable to me. Maybe it needs another read through for clarity?
- kwere 5y agoi couldn't correct it before: the gist is that reversing or stopping climate change looks improbable due to lack of global organization or desire between countries. One of the biggest unsolvable long term problems is rising sea levels, a sollution could be moving that ice/water outside of the planet(generating possible economic output)? Km3 = km^3
