Tale as old as time. Give a free tier to get people to store their data with you and then pull the rug when they’re too committed to leave. Should be illegal.

  Git is distributed. Just change the remote to GitHub or a different VCS and the full commit history will be pushed as well.

    You lose the non-git history (discussions, PR context, issues, etc) as well as CI. If it was just commits, git is easily installed.
