It's not perfect, but it's clearly an improvement. I have a box full of USB adapters. A to B, A to A-female. Micro to A-female, and on and on and on. It's not great that your charging speed may be limited by the cable specs, but it charges much faster with the wrong kind of USB-C cable than if you have micro-USB when the device takes mini-USB. And the fact that even HAS PD is amazing. My laptop, phone, and headphones all charge with the same cable. That's much easier for travelling.
