Tech workers are upset their companies are sharing payroll data with Equifax
- hulitu 5y agoWell, the companies will, hopefuly, learn it when their data will be for sale on the internet. Some people never learn.
- olliej 5y agoThe real issue is that while states are passing laws banning requests for prior salary/wages this provides employers with an end run around those laws: they never "ask the employee" for their old income, and can instead rely on existing employers to essentially publish that information for anyone willing to pay. Equifax spokesperson said they keep the "work verification" information siloed. Forgive me if I don't trust the claim that a credit agency of all things accrues this information and doesn't have a plan to try to monetize it. It also further reinforces that we can't rely on our employers not leaking/selling our information to third parties. Especially wage history which is not relevant to verifying prior employment.
- spacemanmatt 5y agoI'm sure the work verification information is siloed so they can monetize it better
- thfuran 5y agoAnd the silo only occasionally spontaneously everts.
