That said, I agree that too many people don’t seek out narratives/facts that counter their priors (I think this is psychically painful like an attack on our ego/identity). And I agree with the bottom of your comment about the lack of empathy for Syrians, Yemenese, etc. Personally I think it’s difficult to understand the different belligerents and their incentives/intents when looking at say Pakistan or Yemen instead of the more obvious “Russia invades Ukraine” plot. It’s worth explaining this through the lens of the Military-Entertainment Complex (movies, shows/series, books, and sports sponsorships).
