I wonder how he was caught? Routine audit? A snitch/whistleblower? One suspects his fraud within Apple's supply chain (taking kickbacks from his buddies and awarding parts contracts in exchange) might never have been discovered, had he not attempted to fool the IRS. Depends on how egregious it was, I guess. If he was awarding contracts to obviously inferior vendors, I'm sure that would draw attention. If the vendors were roughly equal to other vendors (or the differences were esoteric enough to go unnoticed) I could see it flying under the radar indefinitely.
