There has been no experimental evidence for Hawking radiation, so does it matter all that much?
- mettamage 5y agoI'm not a physicist, so my explanation is most likely off the mark, simply see [1]. There was something recently about whirlpools that showed that Hawking's math worked out [1]. So yea, no experimental evidence, but at least the math works out for whirlpool-style experiments. - davidgrenier 5y agoYeah I guess... so to me that's the analog of conjectures conditionally true on the Riemann hypothesis being correct. There is indeed value in it, though I'm not gonna hold my breath.
