Sprint Confirms It Will Offer Unlimited Pricing for iPhone
- wlesieutre 15y agoThat sounds awfully expensive.
- dangrossman 15y agoExpensive? Not if you actually want to use the data features of your phone. Sprint is $79.99/mo. $69.99/mo for 500 minutes with unlimited text and mobile to mobile calls, $10/mo "premium smartphone" data plan with no throttling and no transfer caps. -- AT&T is $74.99/mo to essentially never use data/apps off wifi, to $104.99/mo and still be capped at 4GB. $39.99/mo for 450 minutes, $15-45/mo for 200MB-4GB of data, $20/mo for unlimited text and mobile to mobile calling. -- Verizon is $89.99-$159.99/mo and still be capped at a few gigs a month. $39.99/mo for 450 minutes, $30-100/mo for 2GB-12GB of data, $20/mo for unlimited text. -- Sprint wins on pricing for iPhone plans easily, and is the only option where you don't have to think about how you use your phone. You can be on the web all day, watch a Netflix movie every night, download every e-mail attachment, install any app, and never hit a cap.
- billpaetzke 15y agoand never hit a cap Unless they throttle high-bandwidth users.
- dangrossman 15y ago> Sprint ... with no throttling and no transfer caps. They put it explicitly in their advertising, their website and their contracts: Sprint does not cap or throttle. http://unlimited.sprint.com/ http://unlimited.sprint.com/
- paul9290 15y agoHopefully this hurts ATT & Verizon to the point of changing their pricing! Though they are probably going to wait and see if Sprint adds a cap like Verizon did before making any prices/services changes on their end. Hopefully this Sprint unlimited offer lasts more then six months!
- hugh3 15y agoVirgin Mobile is $25 a month with unlimited data (and text) plus 300 minutes of talk. edit: I have no idea what "unlimited" really means here.
- dangrossman 15y agoVirgin Mobile does not sell iPhones and throttles after 2.5GB of data usage.
- jsz0 15y agoIf Sprint's coverage was a bit better, and CDMA was a bit faster, I would be inclined to agree but as it stands having poor (or no signal) and slower speeds is a pretty big trade-off to make for some people. I opted to go the other direction. I decreased everything on my plan to get my AT&T bill down to $54/month. Tiny voice plan (they don't advertise it, call and threaten to cancel and they will offer it) 2GB of data, 250 texts. Fits my usage needs very well. Cheap. Fast. Good coverage. I would have possibly went with the 250MB data plan, since I use wifi 90% of the time, but they offered me a deal on the 2GB plan. I looked back at my data usage for the last 4 years and I went over 2GB once while I was on vacation.
- dangrossman 15y agoAs always, it depends where you live. I get 10mbps or better at home on Sprint with my HTC Evo 4G.
- redthrowaway 15y agoI pay $80/mo all told for 500 megs, so this looks downright economical. Canada is not the place to be if you want a decent data plan.
- blhack 15y agoWhat market are you in? Last I looked, we were paying north of $100 for that.
- pkulak 15y agoDon't forget to add on the $10 smartphone fee!
- vyrotek 15y agoI have Sprint and I have no idea what you're talking about. The only $10/mo charge I'm familiar with is to use 4G which they have made required for any phone that supports it. My current phone doesn't, so no $10 charge.
- aidenn0 15y agoIt's no longer called a 4G specific charge, it's a "premium smartphone" charge.
- cullenking 15y agoNo idea why you were downvoted. I am a sprint user, and it is certainly a premium smartphone charge, and now happens with any smartphone activation, regardless of 4g. Hilarious too, considering the fact I can't ever use 4g unless I am sitting in a park outside.
- cullenking 15y agoIf you activate any new smartphone now, even one without 4g, you will be assessed the extra charge. Complete BS, but, pricing is still competitive :\
- jmjerlecki 15y agoExactly. 69.99$ is a win for them. $79.99 is not. They should kill that "premium smartphone" fee. Or at least kill it for people willing to switch from verizon or ATT. 5$ a month is not reason enough for me to go through with the hassle to switch. 15$ a month is.
