I'm a super negotiation-phobic person. :D
At the end of the day, the big gains don't come from the words you say. 80% of the price reduction just comes from finding the dealer who able/willing to sell the same thing you can get from somewhere else, for less money.
The ultimate superpower in the negotiations isn't words based at all - it's walking away if it's not a good deal. This is the ultimate in being taken seriously.
It's so much less scary because you aren't doing one single critical negotiation any more, it's a series of low stakes / no stakes conversations.
In fact, you aren't really "NEGOTIATING" like people picture it, you are merely having an artificially slow conversation to see if your price and their price happen to overlap. If so, you buy, and if not, no problem. If the price isn't good enough, you leave.
(and if a dealer happens to throw some theatrics in, you can just laugh inside and tell your friends a good story later.)
