years ago I used a website that no longer exists, can't remember the name. you told them the car you wanted and the trim and they came up with a proposal. I also cross checked that with true car to figure out what a fair price would be for the car, based on my zip code. I think the website was called carwoo... I got in touch with an ecommerce dept of a dealership (that is a thing!). I then told the guy I was paying cash and got financing through the bank. I negotiated the price via email. they asked me to come in which I refused. they asked for a SSN which I refused and gave them my DMV license instead. I told them to deliver the car at a FAANG parking lot and gave them a bank certified check and signed the papers then and there. never went to the dealership. this all happened after countless fruitless visits to dealerships where we were harassed with no end in sight.
one trick I read about but never tried, is to tell them you need financing, and focus on bringing the price of the car down. then, after you brought it down (and they think they will make it up on the financing) you tell them you pay cash and don't want the financing. YMMV.
