Ask HN: What are some good alternatives to a 13“ M1 MBP?
- ggm 5y agoThe m1 Air. Jokes aside, Lenovo Carbon but they lack an AMD option AFAIK. Or, go chromebook and go high end and high memory
- smoldesu 5y ago+1 for the Carbon, if you're looking for a "it just works" Linux experience you'll be hard pressed to find a better all-around machine. Even though we're not quite back to the glory days of IBM decks, the keyboard on newer Thinkpads is still outrageously good. It feels clichéd recommending Thinkpads in $CURRENT_YEAR, but if you can find a decent AMD or a recent Intel model, they're fantastic x86 machines.
- saikatsg 5y agoCostlier than the 13" M1 MBP :(
- daviddever23box 5y agoThe Apple Silicon-based MacBook Air continues to be killer bang-for-buck, and even better used. And no fan.
- sassy_quat 5y agoI always do compilation on a web server after running "nice bash" to avoid disrupting other processes.
