Why are the articles about Africa that are posted on HN always about how strange and different they supposedly are? This isn't even tech related. Rather than focus on their technology industry, what gets posted is some strange folk belief of the poor-- as if people in the USA don't also have superstitions like black cats are unlucky. These conversations seem to turn into a self congratulatory series of people talking about how they would never believe anything so illogical, in fact they don't even understand how you could believe anything so illogical. Though the intention is to place themselves as the more intelligent ones, this just makes me think people here are naive that they don't understand they've went through a lifetime of training to think that way and still have weird superstitions(ie romantic love is special as opposed to evolutions way of tricking you into thinking having sex is meaningful)
