1973 Implementation of Wordle Was Published by Dec
- Imnimo 5y agoMan, Lexington High School was apparently just churning out classics back in the day. That's the same place Lunar Lander was written: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Lander_(video_game_genre)#Text_games https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Lander_(video_game_genre...
- gumby 5y agoLexington high was the place that Seymour Papert's group at MIT did their field work with Logo. I vaguely remember that this might have been due to Cynthia Solomon who was then, of all things, Marvin Minsky's secretary, as they were called back then. IASTR that Brian Harvey (also of Logo fame and now a longterm professor at UC Berkeley) was involved, though it was before my time and I may have my wires crossed. But he would have been an amazing teacher for a bunch of high school students!
- messe 5y agoTitle should read “published by DEC” not “published by Dec”.
- gumby 5y ago...and I wish the article had included a shoutout to Dave Ahl, though the oversight is understandable.
- Gedd 5y agoGreat point! I added a shoutout to Dave, who actually graciously answered an email from me years ago when I was first setting up the webpage where you can play all the original games.
- julianz 5y agoWow! This was the first programming book I had. It took a bit of work to translate the programs into Commodore PET BASIC, at least for young me anyway.
