I don't have the confidence in my skills to be an architect as I've spent most of my years working on the soft skills and communication skills (which still isn't up to what I'd like). In an ideal world I'd be able to offer both technical services (dev work) and more guiding services (i.e. your dev process is broken and can be optimized by doing X, Y, and Z).
