1. because they dont make them durable to withstand fall 2. because they make them slippery as hell etc. I tried to use my phone without case to enjoy the finish and smaller dimensions, but the edges were already inconvenient to hold and God forbid I would leave it lying anywhere with vibrations on, it was slowly slipping on any surface which was not perfectly even, even without vibrations.
