The alarming rise of complex genetic testing in human embryo selection
- kazinator 5y ago> It is not clear to what extent individuals are counselled on the technique’s uncertainties and risks. Meanwhile, the scores of such assessments could be harmful. They could trigger the unnecessary destruction of viable embryos or induce women to undergo extra cycles of ovarian stimulation to collect more oocytes. That is grasping at straws. People doing this are having trouble conceiving children. The woman in question has been ovulating and menstruating for a lifetime, and all she wants is two kids, maybe three. The egg to actual-number-of-kids-wanted ratio makes this issue beyond giving a damn. Extra ovarian stimulation and discarded embryo ... to avoid a child with a lifetime of health and development problems? Seems like a slam-dunk no-brainer to me.

The idea that government has more care, wisdom, and rights to genome selection than parents do reminds me of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_L%C3%B6sung https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_L%C3%B6sung
