If you don't really understand how they work, you get blog posts like this. Microservices add many design benefits that prioritize rapid independent work. Monoliths add many design benefits that prioritize simplification and tight integration, testing and releasing. Both exist for good reasons, and both have to be implemented properly. Neither of them is a silver bullet.
But the real reason we use microservices is they're just more popular. Nobody wants to recommend something obscure or old for fear they'll be laughed out of the office. Nobody can hire tech people to work on 'uncool' technology. People like to follow trends. That's why we are doing this.
