This was not the case just a few years ago. I remember growing up the Oscars was supposed to be fun. Billy Crystal hosting almost certainly meant it was going to be funny. Watching celebrities congratulate themselves was fine because it was generally fun and nobody seemed to take it too seriously. Those who did were often made fun of. Today the Oscars are not fun to watch. Endless Social commentary, constant self flagellation, reminders about how Hollywood is leading the fight against climate change and whatever trendy celebrity activist cause of the week. The viewers don’t want to hear this. It’s a simple concept but it’s hard explaining this to people because they can’t fathom that normies don’t want to watch the show to be educated about society.
