Climate change: 'Madness' to turn to fossil fuels because of Ukraine war
- ajuc 5y agoTurning from one fossil fuel to another when buying the first one directly finances an aggressive dictatorship that started 3 wars in 14 years isn't madness. It's reasonable. Including from environmental POV. Turns out wars release a whole lot of CO2. And their consequences - even more. Of course killing thousands of people in said wars offsets some of that CO2, but I still won't count that as a positive. What actually is madness - is turning from carbon-neutral nuclear power to natural gas AND buying it from Russia which then uses these money to buy tanks and weapons and kill thousands of people, and demolishing cities. THAT is madness. And UN had no problems with that AFAIR. Priorities right now if you care about ecology: 1. stop Russia because wars kill people 2. stop Russia because wars destroy environment 3. stop Russia because wars release A LOT of CO2 4. stop Russia because wars cause damage which must be rebuild releasing A LOT of CO2 5. stop Russia because it's a dictatorships that supports global warming-denying populists all over the world and sells fossil fuels as its only big export
