for what it's worth, I used to use the nvidia driver and eglstreams but a few months ago (I think shortly after nvidia started supporting gbm), that started crashing, and I had to uninstall wlroots-eglstreams and switch to the nouveau driver to keep a working system. I no longer have the patience to deal with nvidia bullshit, and will happily leave perf on the table to not have to deal with that, so I'm sticking with nouveau for now. (Obviously this is just my experience, and it's possible that it was somehow a me-problem, but it took some diagnosing and the fix I did was the only permutation that worked. I am on arch, so rolling release and bleeding age e.t.c. YMMV)
