I always heard that the reason we don’t just make chips bigger is that it increases the distance the electricity has to travel which translates to more latency.

I always heard that the reason we don’t just make chips bigger is that it increases the distance the electricity has to travel which translates to more latency. But somehow rhe M1 Ultra is able to get away with being huge with out this being a problem. I wonder if we will start seeing more physically large chips in the future because of this?
