This author is confused. Maple syrup is a product derived from the sap of maple trees.
Making corn syrup and flavoring it to imitate maple syrup is another thing. But they are not the same.
Also, maybe the author is unfamiliar with Vermont. Yes, they export maple syrup in food grade containers. Yes, many Vermonters tap their own trees, receive from neighbors, and buy from farms that don’t sell to grocery stores the author may be familiar with.
I don’t know what I just read but I definitely don’t recommend reading it especially if you’ve ever had actual maple syrup
