Went to renew Taiwanese passport, got denied because they couldn’t see my ears
- hunglee2 5y agoDutch passport photos were once taken at angle in order to more clearly capture a picture of the ear. Wonder whether there is some weird bureaucratic legacy here, Taiwan being a former Dutch colony (Formosa)
- mytailorisrich 5y agoI don't think a few decades of Dutch control in the 17th century left a bureaucratic legacy (not to mention that the government is the Republic of China's...) ... Visible ears on passport photos is a standard requirement in many (all?) countries because passports are biometric.
- jaclaz 5y agoCurrent (Dutch) requirements are for "front" shot only: https://www.government.nl/topics/identification-documents/requirements-for-photos https://www.government.nl/topics/identification-documents/re... and both ears are seemingly not (anymore) required, but I have heard this "both ears need to be visible" thing more than once, at least in other EU coumtries, so maybe it has changed recently in the EU. Other countries may well require still the ears to be visible, USA seems among them: https://do.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/photo-requirements-u-s-passports-visa/ https://do.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/phot...
