At least for now, I think the performance gap between AS and nearly everything else available could be significant enough to move users (and developer hours) to Apple hardware where they might never have considered it before. There's a big difference between "nice build quality that takes some extra work to support" and "workflow-changing performance that takes some extra work to support"

But that matters for Apple's success, not Linux's. If you are moving from a PC laptop to a Mac you will more likely switch to MacOS than to Linux, and if you were already on Linux before, it doesn't matter for its success that you changed machine.
