Didn’t Joe Biden pressure the Ukrainian government to fire the prosecutor who was looking into these corruption allegations?
- myko 5y agoHe pressured them to fire a corrupt prosecutor, with the backing of basically the entire west. He did the opposite. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/21/fact-check-joe-biden-leveraged-ukraine-aid-oust-corrupt-prosecutor/5991434002/ https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/21/fac... "Despite a recently concluded investigation by Senate Republicans that found no wrongdoing by the Bidens, claims to the contrary have continued to circulate on social media."
- claudiulodro 5y agoYes, but it was because the prosecutor wasn't looking into the corruption allegations: > It's true that Joe Biden leveraged $1 billion in aid to persuade Ukraine to oust its top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, in March 2016. But it wasn't because Shokin was investigating Burisma. It was because Shokin wasn't pursuing corruption among the country's politicians. > https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/21/fact-check-joe-biden-leveraged-ukraine-aid-oust-corrupt-prosecutor/5991434002/ https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/21/fac...
- edbaskerville 5y agoNo. Biden pressured the firing of a prosecutor that was NOT looking into corruption allegations, since terms of U.S. aid included reducing corruption. You may remember this as a right-wing line about him corruptly helping his son. It was the opposite.
