The hydrology term you are looking for is catchment. I suspect an analogous economic "catchment", could be a company town, or a country who's economy is closed to the rest of the world.
- jka 5y agoThanks - I did consider using that term too; perhaps I was led astray by the most recent Advent of Code challenges. They're similar, although I think there's a risk of confusion with regulatory capture -- maybe a justified risk -- but one I'd like to avoid unless proven equivalent.
