I do wonder if they've considered the side-effects here. Surely if they're implementing this fee, they're going to have to change their terms of service, right?

I do wonder if they've considered the side-effects here. Surely if they're implementing this fee, they're going to have to change their terms of service, right? And if they do, I'm going to have no moral qualms sharing an account between everyone I know who uses Netflix. None.
(But perhaps that's why they have done this after raising their membership fees sharply over the past few years, instead of before).
Edit: Thinking about it, one benefit for Netflix is it would be much harder to cancel an account if a bunch of households are paying for it together.
- dymk 5y agoThe Netflix ToS is already that separate households can't share accounts, so people doing so are already breaking the ToS and could, not unreasonably, have their accounts terminated. Netflix has been lax on enforcing this part of the ToS in the past, and that's what's changing now.
- nix23 5y agoMost ToS are not enforceable in Europe, however they can block you from the service.
