First Look at AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0
- PaulHoule 5y agoWhat about latency? If you are doing it in a time-symmetric way you are going to hold at least a frame in the buffer. If it is not time symmetric then there is still some latency that comes out of using the current frame and prior frames but nut future frames. I might be unusual but I am highly sensitive to display latency. I can’t stand playing single player games on my Xbox unless the TV is in game mode and I couldn’t stand playing League of Legends on my laptop’s screen because it was a frame slow.
- Scaevolus 5y agoTemporal sampling doesn't have to add a frame of latency. You accumulate the _present_ frame with the _past_ frame(s), and any upscaling tech like this has to use a negligible fraction of the frame time (a few milliseconds at most). This can introduce some ghosting, like in some implementations of TAA, but generally they avoid that by either doing motion blur on high motion-areas or only using the past frame accumulations for low-motion areas.
