The author seems to have accidentally reinvented the circa-2000 technique of rendering headings as images to overcome early browser font limitations. Except without realising that sprite-sheets don't allow for kerning or ligature adjustments, or high-DPI displays, or accessibility, performance, high-contrast/dark mode, etc. We've had probably 40 years or more of smart people building font-rendering engines, trust them.
Good web design accommodates a user selecting a different default font size, a different font, zooming the page, or asking for a translation or a printable copy. Good design is accessible.
