They All Are Putin
- app4soft 5y agoAndrij Melnyk[1] is Ukraine's Ambassador to Germany. Additional clarification by Dmytro Kuleba[2], MFA of Ukraine: > Some want to live in a simple world where Putin is solely responsible for the war. The reality is that someone actually drops bombs on Ukrainian cities, shoots evacuees, forms ‘Zs’, backs Putin in surveys. Like in 1930s, they bear responsibility, even if poisoned by propaganda. JFTR, I'm Ukrainian living in Ukraine. - ZeroGravitas 5y agoThis feels slightly too extreme to me, and probably not strategically useful, but people say things when they're upset and having your country invaded and bombed is very upsetting. But there's definitely more than just Putin. And it gets quite messy once you get into children believing things because their parents and teachers told them things that they heard from their media that were censored by government employees. The responsibility can get complicated and diffuse and humans like things to be simple. Even in mildly less controversial areas than war, things like climate change denial and Trump support, how do you assign blame to people fairly? How can you tell the brainwashed and the brainwashers apart, if there even is a bright dividing line? But probably a good conversation to start to draw attention to Ukraine's plight. Anyone arguing "not all Russians" or "yes, all Russians" on Twitter is thinking about Ukraine more than they would otherwise.
