Supreme Court orders re-vote after iVote crash in NSW local government elections
- dane-pgp 5y agoRather than hacking an election to change the vote totals, a more subtle attack would be to program the voting software to detect whether the election is going your way or not, and if it isn't then it can trigger a crash. This assumes the perpetrator knows that their party's voters are more motivated to turn out for the re-vote (possibly after another round of targeted advertising). Remember, this is a country which in 24-hours pushed through a law which allows the government to secretly conscript companies into backdooring their own technology. "Required hacking activities could include: altering, copying and deleting data; intercepting and modifying communications; surveilling networks; and changing account credentials." https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/australia-surveillance-bill/ https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/australia-surveillance-bill/
