Tanks are an asset in a lot of situations. Most nations don't go to toe to toe with tanks against Javelin missiles or NLAWs. It's important to remember though that NLAWs are like $30,000 per shot. Javelins are like $200k/shot. Most nations don't have hardware like that.
- Ourgon 5y agoIt is still cheaper to blow up an adversary's hardware with those than it is to fight them with your own tanks.
- selectodude 5y agoOf course it is. Most (all?) countries who invade places generally don't invade places with large stocks of NATO's state of the art anti-tank missiles though. Russia, obviously, being a rather notable exception.
- bell-cot 5y agoHaving your own tanks matters far more against a competent adversary, or when you want to mount your own offensive - one that goes a substantial distance, at decent speed.
