I have been using an email address `firstname@lastname.email` and with the help of FastMail also `sendername@firstname.lastname.email` for the last 8 years:
1. When you give your email somewhere, they are always trying to fix it and clarify, that is probably `firstname@lastname@gmail.com`.
2. When you give email with `sendername`, like `chase@firstname.lastname.email` - they say you cannot have this email address
3. A LOT of websites don't support `.email` addresses, just cannot pass through validation, and even if you do, that does not mean that later on you will not have a problem with something else.
4. Yes, I am still surprised that it is still possible to meet website that does not allow me to use `.email`. That is why I have a backup `.net`. But I keep using `.email` as my primary, as I believe I am part of the "team" who is trying to educate other developers, that those emails with more than 3 letters in first level domain are valid.
