As opposed to what? Creating your own OS and software down to the silicon?
- maerF0x0 5y agoSounds like a great way to become a millionaire!! (edit: if you start as a billionaire)
- Terry_Roll 5y agoAre you basing this judgment on your existing knowledge of programming tools?
- maerF0x0 5y agoMostly a joke, but also looking at cases like AMD struggling for decades, ARM layoffs, convergence of OSes to concentrate on fewer "flavors" (despite more options available)
- Terry_Roll 5y agoIn my experience it looked like something was going on with Intel and Windows, so when ever you got a new internet explorer you needed to get a new computer with a new Intel processor because internet explorer slowed everything up. and then there is this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_C%2B%2B_Compiler#Support_for_non-Intel_processors https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_C%2B%2B_Compiler#Support... But I also wonder about microcode and what that does to the performance of a cpu.
- Terry_Roll 5y agoWhy not, at least you might have some trust in it, if you trust your own abilities? I'm amazed that most people distrust strangers but happily hand over money and trust a stranger's product or service. Thats illogical isnt it?
