  It's a question of whether Putin will decide whether it merits him escalating the war beyond Ukraine's borders, justified by the notion that the US has become a combatant. Especially since there's a decent chance that it would require US personnel. These drones require significant training. The decision weighs on a lot more than just whether it's cheap and effective. It's based on what the whole war is really about.
