Mandatory reminder that color schemes may be non-accessible for a significant part of the population, especially the male population.
Almost all color vision deficient people fall into the "deutan" and "protan" category, and there are color schemes that are designed to be compatible with them.
It could be good to have a reminder in the README on that topic.
- aenero 5y agoThanks for pointing this out. Admittedly a lot of pointers like this are missing in the README, because there's just a lot about Color Theory and generally the science behind color, than what my documentation has space for. Can you recommend a link to a nice website where users can learn more about things like this? I would like to add that link to the README. I appreciate your insights.
- acadapter 5y agoHere's a good link that offers some educational value along with examples. https://davidmathlogic.com/colorblind/ https://davidmathlogic.com/colorblind/
- aenero 5y agoNice one indeed. Thanks for this. I am gathering useful links like this, and will make them available in the README for further readings.
- dgellow 5y agoIs there a way to test if my color scheme is considered accessible for various vision issues?
- samsolomon 5y agoThere is a Mac App our product design team uses called Sim Daltonism. It basically takes whatever is rendered on your screen and allows you to cycle through the 5-6 most common types of color blindness. I'd highly recommend it. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sim-daltonism/id693112260?mt=12 https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sim-daltonism/id693112260?mt=1... The tricky part is that schemes which work for red-green colorblindness sometimes don't translate for yellow-blue.
