- aaaaaaaaata 5y agoThe Internet interprets censorship as damage, and routes around it. It always has, we always will. Why are you doubting the community now, of all times?
- devwastaken 5y agoThe internet is not some holy God beyond the powers of humanity. It's hardware and cables. Any country can be cut from access, any server, any user. This isn't a "community". It's business.

- aaaaaaaaata 5y agoHistory of Sneakernet Banned music transport etc etc It's just numbers. You can store funds on a 1¢ flash drive or calculator!
- quxbar 5y agoYour tokens don't do any good when your transactions require a network.
- aaaaaaaaata 5y agoMesh nets commit transactions when possible. If that's a year later, after you've done a hand to hand, so what?
- 0ldskool 5y agoDon't think thats useful in terms of currency exchange. In order for a crypto currency to be transferred it has to be committed to the public ledger. If you are cut off from the rest of the internet you can never have a successful transfer. I don't think people in Russia and Ukraine can wait years to convert cypto to local currency. What could happen is a fork of that cryptocurrency could be created in Russia with a completely different set of transactions. It could never rejoin the main chain otherwise that full transaction log would be lost.
- ThatPlayer 5y agoStart a business to accept snailmail and broadcast transactions onto the blockchain! And for a fee, you can get a copy of the blockchain delivered. That actually got me interested on if it would be possible to get the blockchain encoded and printed on paper (and bound as a book of course). https://ollydbg.de/Paperbak/ https://ollydbg.de/Paperbak/ can do 0.5 megabytes on a sheet of A4, so 1MB if you double side it. The current size of the Bitcoin blockchain is ~400 gigabytes, so only 800,000 sheets of paper! Growing at around 1.5 sheets an hour forever.
